Snow Lion Brings Literature Festival To Huddersfield Town FC
Our magical Walkabout Snow Lion inspired children by attending Huddersfield Town’s football game for World Book Day.
Our animatronic puppet character was the main attraction as it roared into a pre-match event at Huddersfield Town’s training ground Canalside Sport Complex to celebrate Huddersfield Literature Festival.
Huddersfield Literature Festival was established in 2006 to encourage more people to benefit from the joys of literature. Writers and literature enthusiasts travel from all over the UK to visit the town’s famous festival to share and perform their new literature-based discoveries.
Our walkabout character represented the main character from the popular children's book, The Snow Lion, by Jim Helmore and Richard Jones. It performed alongside a red queen and her servant who handed 30 copies of Helmore and Jones’ book out to the first 30 children to arrive at the event.
The larger than life Walkabout Snow Lion captured the heart of many a young child attending the event and created lasting memories. Crowds gathered as children of all ages stopped to take photos with the gentle giant.
Word of the Walkabout Snow Lion’s appearance at Huddersfield Town Football Club travelled fast around the town and featured in The Huddersfield Daily Examiner who said the “The children’s book character was brought to life at PPG Canalside before Saturday’s game”.
Kat Martin, Entertainment Coordinator said about her part in providing the Walkabout Snow Lion for the festival:
“Working together with Huddersfield Literature Festival to bring their characters to life has been a wonderful experience and to hear that the children were inspired to read more after meeting our walkabout characters was the icing on the cake.”
We provide a range of mix and mingle characters and fan zone entertainment which are perfect for attracting large audiences and adding to the excitement at high profile sports events.
