Getting Married in Winter? Check Some Winter Wedding Inspiration

If winter is your favourite time of the year and you’re planning your wedding, you might have considered tying the knot in December, January or February. Considering it’s not peak wedding season, getting married in winter might be a great way to save money and have a wedding that is unique and different.

If you’re one of those couples who have pictured your special day surrounded by snow, or a bride whose dream is to wear a winter wedding gown, then make sure you keep on reading to explore some winter wedding inspiration and the best entertainment for winter weddings!

Celebs Who Tied the Knot in Winter

Getting married in winter is more common than you might have imagined. We were surprised to find out many celebs and fashion icons chose December, January and February to seal their love.

Monaco royal Andrea Casiraghi and Colombian fashion designer Tatiana Santodomingo had a wonderful fairytale winter wedding in Switzerland. Even though the couple’s civil ceremony took place in Monaco, they also had a second candlelit ceremony in Gstaad in February 2014. With the snow-covered Swiss Alps serving as background for such special occasion, we can’t imagine a more romantic, unique and magical way to tie the knot.

Other couples who got married in winter include Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas (who organised two lavish ceremonies in India) Gisele Bündchen and Tom Brady, Miranda Kerr and Evan Spiegel and Mandy Moore and Taylor Goldsmith.

Entertainment for your Winter Wedding

When it comes to choosing the entertainment for your winter wedding, we got you covered. There are many ways to add an extra magical touch to your big day and here’s a list of our favourite ones.

1. Walkabout Acts for a Fairytale Winter Wedding

Walkabout acts are always an amazing complement to your venue’s decor. If you would like to transform your wedding into Winter Wonderland, entertainers such as the below winged stilt walkers are perfect. If you’re looking for a more Christmassy feel, our edible dancers present a luxurious and unique concept that will charm your guests as they wear costumes incorporating real chocolate that can be plucked from their garments!

For those brides looking to make a unique and special entrance to the ceremony, our Golden Heart Carriage is definitely what you’re after. This majestic cart can transform your big day into a truly fairytale winter wedding. This carriage makes the perfect background for photos and, best of all, it can become the perfect space for a musician to play an instrument at your drinks reception!

2. Ballerinas and Fire Dancers Add Spark to Winter Weddings

Ballet dancers such as our Sugar Plum Fairy Ballerinas perform excerpts from the Nutcracker with original scores of music, a performance that is guaranteed to bring that wintry feeling you might be looking to add to your wedding. Blending seamlessly into your wedding venue’s decor, Nutcracker ballerinas can be the icing on the cake of a fairytale winter wedding.

Both ballerinas and fire dancers can set a stunning ambience at your reception. Fire performers can create fully bespoke and eye-catching fire effects that would especially be a delight to watch at evening weddings. On top of that, fire performances could add that warm touch that a winter wedding calls for.

3. Unique and Glamorous Musical Performances

When choosing the entertainment for your winter wedding, you might want to follow tradition by choosing string quartets or other live musicians for your ceremony and reception. You can follow tradition and be creative at the same time by opting for string musicians who play inside a giant bubble like the ones below. They’re sophisticated, unique and add that snow crystal ball effect that is so wintry.

Vintage harmony trios boasting gorgeous vocals and frosty white dresses can also be the perfect addition to your fairytale winter wedding. Are you planning a dramatic bridal entrance? Then our Cascading Floral Violinist might be what you’re looking for. Dressed in a beautiful flowing 20ft gown, our musician can welcome guests to your ceremony or reception and add a touch of winter glamour to your big day.

4. Winter Weddings Call for White Floral Arrangements

We’re firm believers that winter weddings call for white flowers. When it comes to picking your floral arrangements, we highly recommend going for floweralls, flower curtains and flower chandeliers. Not only they completely transform a venue into the perfect winter scenery, but they can be complemented with other colours of your choice if that’s what you would like to go for.

Table centrepieces are sometimes disregarded and we’re committed to changing that! If chosen wisely, they can change the mood of an entire room, capture attention and set an atmosphere. If you’re happy to get a bit creative, table centrepieces can incorporate LED lights that create fire effects (perfect for cold evening weddings) and their design can be either contemporary, rustic, traditional or modern!

5. Bespoke and Unique Wedding Decor Pieces

If you’re looking for decor pieces that can truly add something unique to your wedding, then don’t miss the below winter wedding inspiration ideas. Is there anything more wintry than ice sculptures? Pieces can be completely tailor-made and include names or dates. Brides and grooms can use them as centrepieces, bottle holders or strictly as a decor element.

We’re big fans of wooden decor for events in the cold season, and rustic wooden cake stands specifically are our absolute favourite for winter weddings! For those tech-savvy couples, cake mapping can also be a perfect way to incorporate technology into their special day. Working hand-in-hand with professional cake makers, experts in projection mapping work on cakes that are actually edible. Best of all? You can choose the visuals projected on the cake, for example, pictures of the couple or snowflakes!
