Led by fiddle virtuoso Gundula Gruen, London-based quintet Gypsy Spirit draw their inspiration from the music of the Romany Gypsies whose passionate performances have been legendary for centuries.
Exploring the musical heritage of Eastern Europe and the Balkans, Gypsy Spirit create fresh arrangements and innovative compositions which are fused with elements of classical, world and jazz. They bring an infectious energy, spirit and humour to their performances, enchanting their audiences onto the dance floor.
Gypsy Spirit’s powerful live performances range from nuanced and subtle to virtuosic and brilliant. They have appeared at the South Bank Centre and Royal Albert Hall, as well as at the Corsham and Rhythms of the World festivals. They have been featured on radio and TV programmes in both the UK and abroad.
