This Week In The Event Industry: 16th December
appy Friday event profs! We’re on the home straight now, one full working week to go until Christmas and you get that well deserved break to spend time with family and friends. In the mean time, here’s our weekly roundup of event industry news stories from around the world, including event announcements, venue openings, clever campaigns and more!
1) Don’t Stop Me Now
We’re as excited as the rest of the events industry, and indeed the tourist industry, about the fact that Qantas will be launching a non-stop service between London and Perth, Australia. Granted we’ll have to wait another year and three months, until the 17-hour flight is available but it will certainly open doors for UK based companies looking to Australia as a potential destination for incentives, and more.
You can read more about the details here.
2) Confex Headliner Announced
Alex Polizzi, also known as the presenter of Channel 5’s show ‘The Hotel Inspector’, will appear as the keynote speaker on day one of International Confex in March 2017. She is just one of a stellar cast of speakers, the details of which will be announced in the coming months.

3) Hamburg’s MICE Renaissance
In January 2017 Hamburg will see the opening of new venue Elbe Philharmonic Hall. Dubbed the ‘Elbphi’, the new venue on Hamburg’s harbour side will offer a variety of spaces for small meetings and congresses.
You can read more about what to expect from the venue here.
4) Spotify Goes Down Under
Music streaming service Spotify has launched a new experiential campaign that will see a custom-branded truck tour Australia’s East Coast. Guests will be invited to experience the pool-party themed photobooth inside the truck. The aim is to showcase Spotify as the perfect music streaming service for the summer months.
This comes at a time when the brand has also launched its biggest ever global campaign ‘Thanks 2016, Its Been Weird’ – a campaign that uses data from its platform to generate localised copy. Very clever. You can read more about it here.
5) Last Minute.com

Luckily for you Bizbash have come up with a super quick, super easy to follow last-minute guide for all you procrastinators out there! You can read the full article here.
