Scarlett Shows go to Beirut
Over the Easter break Scarlett Entertainment and Events were thrilled to have taken two shows over to Lebanon to perform for audiences at City Centre Beirut, one of the city’s largest malls with over 200 shops, restaurants and a cinema.
Beauty and The Beast and Wonderland Cirque (Alice in Wonderland) were booked to perform two shows a day, each preceded by an interactive walkabout set, from the 13 - 23rd April as part of the mall’s Easter celebrations. The two shows played on alternate days opening with Wonderland Cirque and ending with Beauty and The Beast and included stunningly detailed costumes and an original soundtrack as well as a huge range of circus skills: dancing, singing, acrobatics, contortion, juggling and roller-skating.
The cast, make up artist and Jonathan from Scarlett Entertainment, flew to Beirut from London on 11 April to meet the client in person and the logistics team they’d be working with at the mall and to begin an intensive technical rehearsal before the first show.

The first run of the performance commenced on Sunday 13 April as Wonderland Cirque enacted a 30 minute walk about set followed by the full stage show. It was a huge hit. Of the first day Jonathan said: 'The shows were an instant hit at the mall and attracted huge crowds. The show appealed to audiences of all ages and by day two the mall management had arranged for a ‘kids zone’ to be set out with seating for the children at the front of the stage, giving them an uninterrupted view of the stage and the colourful characters.'
This first performance of Wonderland Cirque set the tone for the rest of the time that the cast performed at City Centre Beirut. The second day Beauty and The Beast took to the stage and the turnout was even more successful than the first day.

Jonathan: 'The performances were so popular that families were coming to three or four days of shows and were turning up an hour before they started to get a good spot to watch from. We had incredible feedback from the audience with both adults and children coming up to the cast and crew to thank them personally for such a wonderful experience. Entertainment is about creating an immersive live experience and memories that will last a lifetime, the shows really seemed to do this.'
City Centre Beirut had a promotional team on hand to take photos and film the show both on the ground and from a drone. After only 48 hours of the official video being live on City Centre Beirut’s social media page, it had received over 30,000 views. By the time the Scarlett Entertainment team left to come back to the UK the video had receive nearing 100,000 views. Click here to watch the video.
The shows were a huge success for the client, audiences and the performers who were overwhelmed by how the shows were received.
