Joey And The Lips
Joey And The Lips
Originally formed as a soul outfit the band is best described now as Soul/Blues/Funk outfit with a bit of Disco, Motown & Rock thrown in! Within todays set are classic soul numbers such as Otis Redding's Try a Little Tenderness and Aretha Franklin's Think, but also popular contemporary classics like Queen's Don't Stop Me Now and the band's storming version of the B52's Love Shack - with a heavy metal medley thrown in!

In there '14 years on the road' the band has worked in many areas of music including a spot on tour with American soulster Edwin Starr and performances on BBC1 featuring a medley performed with Atomic Kitten & Martine McCutcheon for Children in Need in 2000. In 2001 they were resident band on Carlton TV's 'Langsford Late' TV show.  In November 2005 BBC1 commissioned the band to appear live on TV for Children in Need.

Joey and The Lips bring a truly electric atmosphere, both visual and spontaneous. The band features three high quality vocalists, driving rhythm section and a kicking horn section that won't stay still for a second!

TESTIMONIALS
"This band creates a truly electric atmosphere, both visual and spontaneous. It features three high quality vocalists, a driving rhythm section and a kicking horn section that won't stay still for a second! It's a 'High Energy' style and vocalist Jimmy Alderson is the consummate frontman, an expert both at working the crowd and at audience interaction. It's a winning formula and it puts this a band in great demand".
All-Electric Productions 2007

"Joey the Lips are a big funky outfit making a joyous sound in the true spirit of the soul band revue - great entertainment"
Snake Davis - M People

"Encores were jaw dropping with totally unexpected showmanship and flair you rarely see these days. Its hard to believe that Joey the Lips have been going fourteen years because they’re as fresh today as they were when I first heard them all those years ago. Go see them, you won’t be disappointed"
South West Gig Guide

"I got near the front just in time to see the kind of explosive team effort that left me exhilarated. They must have been choreographed by the best that Andrew Lloyd Webber knew because they were one cohesive unit in perfect harmony. The atmosphere really was electric and the anticipation all but touchable. Treat yourself , go and see them soon"
Torbay Review

"Sometimes, just sometimes, when great or even good singers sing soul music an odd thing happens.
A thing that you experience oh so rarely. The feeling goes beyond passion, beyond excitement. Mystery
takes over. You are reminded that this music was born out of gospel, that before soul took on its themes
of money, success, black freedom, political struggle and love it was concerned with the search for the divine.
That's what happened to me, watching you sing last night. A condition of mystery approached a condition of
prayer. You've probably sung that song 500 times but you sang it like it was the first time. Your hands clutched
at the air as you hit the highest notes and you shook your head and beamed with pure helpless joy as you seemed to wrench the words out of yourself. The band swelled and soared behind you, the drums and horns came in and the whole place went wild. By the chorus the whole place was singing with you.  It was an amazing performance. Magic, pure and simple, just absolutely magic.
Be proud of yourself, and thank you."

would make me feel the way I feel, when your all on stage giving it all you have!! The atmosphere you create
is just AMAZING!!! "
